A view over the Lisabon harbor (1994)

I didn't work for so long period of time in Portugal, but the memories of it are still deep, an office almost only populated by women, all of them very nice.

The female boss took me and another girl at the office around in the evening to see the real party-life in Lisabon's inner. We started out at in a weird cellar (no sign's outside), where each of us sank down in large armchairs. In the middle there was a very small table, maybe 40x40 centimetres. We recieved cards to order from, and the only thing there was, was pictures of some weird mugs, I selected one which looked funny, and the girls did the same. A bit later on we recieved them, they where placed on the small table and we recieved straw's to it, but no ordinary straws, they where at least 1,5 metres long to be able to reach the cups on the small table that was placed in the middle. From the cups sipped thick smoke down over the table and down on the floor!

This was just the beginning, we continued the evening to even weirder places, discoteq's, bar's and pubs seeing all kinds of people, everthing from transvestites to Mr. Ordinary dancing at the same place.

For me it was a feeling of very liberated people, living for the moment so to say, it was quite a diffrence from the Swedish society that I was used to. It was really so great to see that all these people could have fun together, accepting each other completely.
